NCPERS to Sponsor Public Pension Plan Mortality Study with Society of Actuaries Research Institute

The Society of Actuaries (SOA) Research Institute and the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS) announced development of a new study, focusing on U.S. public pension plan mortality data. Sponsored by NCPERS, the study will analyze in-depth data from more than 30 U.S. public pension systems spanning from 2022 to 2026. The research findings are scheduled to be released around 2030.

Society of Actuaries Announces: U.S. News & World Report Ranks Actuary in Top 10 of 2025 Best Jobs

U.S. News & World Report has recognized the actuarial profession with top rankings in several of its annual Best Jobs categories. Actuary was listed tenth within the 100 Best Jobs of 2025, and also in Best Technology Jobs and Best STEM Jobs. Actuaries are professional experts in measuring and analyzing risk. They work in a variety of fields, including insurance, healthcare, consulting, financial services, government and education.

Annual Survey Reveals Risk Managers’ Concerns

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) jointly published key findings from the 18th Annual Emerging Risk Survey. The online questionnaires ask risk managers to rank current and emerging risks, and researchers have tracked the responses over the years to identify trends. In the latest survey, the top emerging risks are climate risks, disruptive technology and geopolitical instability.
